Things to do in The Northeast of Puerto Rico

 

• Piñones = you can   either walk or bicycle on the nature boardwalk, or kayak in the lagoon

• Old San Juan = visit the Spanish architectural city , El Morro, San Cristobal Fort          

• El Yunque National Forest — hike 1 or 2 of the short trails like La Mina, Big Tree, Baño de Oro, Mount Britton, Caimatillo, Juan Diego, or Angelito

• Balneario Monserrate — a beautiful, crescent-shaped beach in Luquillo with palm trees and a view of El Yunque. There are lifeguards, food stands, gated parking lot, restrooms and showers available.

• Luquillo Kiosks — 60 beach-front food vendors, offering everything from local fare, to Italian, Mexican and burgers. Good for a quick lunch or a sit-down dinner.

• Board Riders= Local hangout shack where surfers enjoy Good food , Music And Beer. Located in Luquillo.

• Surfing Lessons — in Luquillo for beginners and experienced surfers.

• Hacienda Campo Rico — ATV tours, horseback riding, or a zip line adventure, just minutes away from San Juan.

• Carabalí Rainforest Park (formerly Hacienda Carabali) — ATV tours, horseback riding, go carts and mountain bikes all in the foothills of El Yunque.

• Yunke Zip line Adventure — zip lines and hiking in the foothills of El Yunque

• Resort Casinos — try your luck at the casinos in the, Rio Mar or El Conquistador resorts.

• Golf Courses — play a round of golf at Rio Mar or El Conquistador Resorts.

• Nature Reserve Tour — get an enjoyable and educational tour at Las Cabezas de San Juan in Fajardo

• Seven Seas Beach — a beautiful beach in Fajardo, with lifeguards, gated parking lot, restrooms and showers available.

• Secret Beaches — Playa Colora or Playa Escondida near Seven Seas in Fajardo for more private sun bathing.

• Island Hop & Snorkel Guided Mini Boat Tour — you’re the captain on this "drive-it-yourself" motorboat tour that combines white sand beaches, snorkeling and high-speed boating

• Monkey Island — kayak in the ocean to Cayo Santiago to observe free roaming research monkeys and have the opportunity for some snorkeling.

Longer Excursions

• Snorkel Boat Trips — spend the day snorkeling around the small islands off the coast of Fajardo on a sailing catamaran.

• Visit Culebra or Vieques for the day — you can take the ferry from Fajardo or fly from Ceiba to one of the out-islands where you could spend the day at Flamenco Beach or Sun Bay Beach.

• A day on a deserted island — hire a local boat to take you to Icacos for the day

-Agárrate Catalina: Calle Loiza, close to Condado. Italian/Argentinian restaurant. Fresh and delicious Pasta. On weekends they have Live Tango Shows. I recommend: Any of their pasta, appetizers: Puntas de filete and Agarrate Catalina 'Sangría' (Wine, Champagne with fresh berries and strawberries sauce) Website

 

-Nonna: Italian/Argentinian as well. Is amazing, really. Everything from scratch (sauces, pasta etc). Very Cozy. Recommendations: Any of their pastas, appetizers: Fontina Cheese Fondue. Website

 

-Loiza 2050: Is very 'Tricky' find this place, since no has any sign in front of the restaurant. Located in Calle Loíza as well, very close to Condado.. Homemade and artisanal pizza with coconut crust!! and always cold beer. Website

 

-Cocina Abierta: Located in Condado, walking distance from La Concha. Amazing Argentinian restaurant. Same owner of Nonna. Is a safe place, everything you order is amazing. Website

-Barrachina: Birthplace of the Pina Colada and Local cuisine restaurant: Website

 

-La Cueva del mar: Fresh fish in town. Old San Juan, close to condado (Recommend take a taxi). Recommendations: Fish Tacos!! Website

 

-Pirilo Pizza Rústica: Amazing artisanal Pizza! Located in Old San Juan. Recommendations: Four Cheese Pizza, Pulpo a la Gallega (octopus) and tres leches Cake! Website

-El. CAFE. In Miramar (close to la Concha, recommend take a Taxi). Amazing Eggs Benedict and French Toast filled with Strawberry and Cream Cheese. Website

-Casa Cortés Choco Bar in Old San Juan: Everything is made with Chocolate Cortés (Local chocolate brand!), is always crowded so you need to get there very early! Is a delicious experience and service is really good. Recommendations: Choco Pancakes, Churros, Chocolate Waffles and Parcha Mimosa (Passion Fruit Mimosa) Website

 

-Mezzanine in Old San Juan: Endless Mimosa and cocktails for two hours. All Tapas are really good. Recommend: Tuna tartare, Meatballs, bread toast with Prosciutto and truffle oil on the top (montaditos). The place has three floors and each floor is a different concept.
